zinful zap events: good eats and zin.

This past weekend was a whirlwind of Twitter, food, Zinfandel and new friends.  My first Zinfandel Festival in San Francisco.  Thanks to infamous Twitter Wino/Blogger Thea of Luscious Lushes aka @winebratsf, I was able to stay in San Francisco and enjoy a whole weekend of wine fun.

Thursday night started off with a trip to Magnolia Brew Pub on Haight Street because we couldn’t let our Beer Wench go a whole weekend without some beer. I must say, they had a great IPA.

Then it was off to the main event – The Good Eats and Zin event at Forth Mason.  Here wineries paired up with restaurants to provide a food and zin pairing (the menu) that had all of us drooling for hours just in anticipation. The food at the event did not disappoint.  The highlight of the night where the Ravioli di Forestal from Pazzo in Petaluma, Ca.  Amazing mushroom ravioli’s that we all came back to over and over again.   Thankfully I live close to Petaluma and will be getting to visit this restaurant soon!

My second food orgasm of the night came from eating a snickerdoodle cookie cupcake from my favorite cupcake bakery, Sift: a Cupcakery.  The cupcakes were even tastier than the cookie, with a vanilla cake, cream cheese frosting swirled with cinnamon-sugar.  This treat was paired with some zin from a Hopland winery called Dogwood Cellars.

Though some of the zins were good, I will be honest and say that the food was a lot more memorable than the wine here.
